Dr. Joanna Dudek – psychologist, psychotherapist, and assistant professor at the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw (Poland). In her clinical practice and research, she focuses on evidence-based treatments such as Motivational Interviewing (as certified MI specialist, cert. nr.23), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (as certified CBT therapist, cert. nr. 1148), Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (as certified therapist and trainer), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (as therapist).
She has dedicated her academic career to investigating the quality of life and psychological functioning of women with lipedema. She has conducted pioneering research that emphasized the importance of paying attention to patients’ psychosocial functioning and overall quality of life. She co-authored a number of articles about lipedema and delivered numerous conference lectures and workshops about psychological aspects of functioning with lipedema worldwide.
Moreover, she has been involved in research focused on applying interventions to improve psychological functioning and well-being of patients. Her goal is to increase awareness and knowledge about lipedema and psychosocial aspects of functioning with this fat disorder, to improve patient care worldwide, and reduce bias and misunderstanding of lipedema.
